Moroccan Wedding Blanket Giveaway

**Sunday April 17, 2016: The Stylephiles have teamed up with Moroccan decor specialists El Ramla Hamra to giveaway a beautiful & completely unique Moroccan wedding blanket valued at AU$615! Please visit our Instagram account @thestylephiles to enter! ** According to ancient Moroccan Berber tradition the wedding blanket was worn by the bride draped over her shoulders on her wedding day, on the way to the house of her husband. This traditional blanket from the Middle Atlas Mountains, is also known as handira.

The handira is completely handmade with much love and prayers by female relatives of the bride. The un-dyed blanket is hand spun and traditionally thousands of sequins were sewn by hand on the blanket. The handira represents happiness, fertility and protection against evil.

Whether used as a glamorous covering for the end of your bed or an accent over the back of your sofa, these gorgeous textural blankets make such a beautiful addition to your home. We are also huge fans of using the handira as a wall hanging - a completely unique and exotic touch for any room! I have a gorgeous one which Steph bought for me in the souk in Marrakech which I use as a throw over the rocking chair in our neutral nursery room.

There is such a huge variety of styles out there - and they're all unique! Whether it's a sprinkle of sequins or a heavily silvered stunner they can be as simple or as elaborate as you like. These incredibly special items are hugely popular, however they're very difficult to obtain in good condition as they are vintage collectable items so you need to source them from a reputable buyer like El Ramla Hamra. If you love the look of the handira you can also consider wedding blanket pillow covers as a decor alternative to the blanket.

We are thrilled to partner with El Ramla Hamra to offer you the chance to WIN an incredibly beautiful Moroccan Wedding blanket - please head to our instagram account @thestylephiles and make sure you enter!
