The Rocky Mountains: A Photographer's Journey
A long time friend of The Stylephiles, Vivian Gray ( a Sydney-sider now living in Austin, Texas) recently travelled to The Rocky Mountains, so we sat down with her and got the download on her nature filled adventure. Steph x
At the beginning of September I spent an incredible two weeks in Calgary and The Rocky Mountains visiting one of my oldest friends.
This was my second trip to Canada having previously been traveling there back in 2012. Blown away again by how beautiful and breathtaking Canada is, it was hard to take a bad photo. Canada was everything I needed; a break from Austin and some guided advice from some familiar faces.
We started our trip by heading to the breathtaking Rocky Mountains visiting the recently built Lifeways Retreat. Lifeways is a newly established retreat in the East Kootenay Rockies of British Columbia, Canada. Peaceful seclusion, modern accommodations, and innovative programs within 225 acres along the beautiful St Mary's River.
Luxury accommodations the heart of the incredible nature reserve.
We stayed in the most beautiful luxury eco-friendly cabin with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the wilderness of the Rocky Mountains.
Over the next few days we relaxed, lazed in bed and went on walks on the property. We walked along the Rails to Trails that has breathtaking views of The Rockies, explored the bull river (i'll never get over the colour of the water a beautiful aqua green) and bathed in the Hot Springs.
Being surrounded by nature is what I need, it allows me to unwind and slow down in life and really take everything in. I'm so used to saying what's next in life that sometimes I forget about being present and enjoying the now, heading to Canada really helped me get back to that.
