How To Get More Followers On Instagram

Content is key and the backbone of success on social media – but it is not just about the perfect image, it boils down to delivering the right message to the right audience at the right time. Your Instagram content needs to be unique, relevant, engaging and resonate with your audience and customers in a meaningful way.

Think of story pillars as the content ‘types’ which you can organise your posts into. Take some time to consider the various angles of story telling you can delve into to bring your brand voice to life. Mapping these ideas out will provide an easy roadmap for theming content and ensuring you’ve got good depth to what you’re posting about.

The quality and variety of your content is what is going to keep your Instagram audience highly engaged and inspired. Having a clear content plan will make your growing social footprint more manageable and help you grow your following.

As a general rule of thumb, quality of content is always a priority. It’s better not to post than to put up an image which is of lower quality as lower engagement rates will affect how the Instagram algorithm displays your future content. Ensuring all images are of a high caliber will keep your engagement rate steady and start to train your audience on what they can expect to see on your page.

It’s important to have a well-populated feed so when new potential followers come across your page they are only immediately shown imagery that is relevant and consistent with your brand message and aesthetic. If outdated and weak content is on your Instagram feed, this is hurting the potential growth of your account.

If a new customer comes across your page and finds their way to a ‘bad content day’, they may be put off and unwilling to follow or return. If you have decided to transition your personal account to your business account and then have lots of personal family imagery mixed in amongst your design work and inspirations – it’s odd and a turn off to those who don’t know you personally.

Keep a separate personal Instagram account for all your personal adventures and your business one should be just that – business. One exception here is if your personality is part of your business model and there is a general interest in your daily life. If this is the case what you decide to show still always needs to be on-brand and part of your brand aesthetic.
